New practice group: Renewable Energies
Dr. Matthias von Oppen, Dr. Michael Bihler (Wendler Tremml Rechtsanwälte) and Gábor Horváth (Kovács Réti Szegheõ Attorneys-at-Law) started into this new practice group by leading a workshop at the recent GGI Central & Eastern European Conference in Eisenberg. Topic of their workshop was "Renewable Energies & Energy Efficiency - Green Buildings on the rise".
"Green Buildings" - just a new buzz word in the real estate market, or will they actually set the standards for the future? And if so, which standards are there? These topics were discussed by Dr. Michael Bihler, Dr. Matthias von Oppen and Gábor Horváth in a workshop at the recent GGI Central & Eastern European Conference. The message is quite obvious: Buildings are the reason for more than 40% of Europe's final energy consumption and 35% of its greenhouse gas emissions. The EU standards have therefore just been tightened: Every new buildig will have to be a "nearly zero energy building" as of 2020. The new EU directive setting this standard will enter into force in July 2010. And there is more about "Green buildings" than EU legislation. Different jurisdictions have been using various standards and approaches for years. Due to this diversity, the administrative hurdles and the costs of "Green Buildings" are often over-estimated.
